ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday administered the oath of the office of the Acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) to Supreme Court judge Justice Javed Iqbal.

The oath-taking ceremony held at the Supreme Court was attended by judges of the Supreme Court, Federal Shariat Court chief justice, SC of Pakistan Human Rights Cell director general, officers of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, representatives of the bar councils, various lawyers and law officers. Supreme Court Registrar Dr Faqir Hussain conducted the proceedings of the ceremony. The officers and staff of the Supreme Court were also present at the occasion. Justice Iqbal will be acting CEC as CEC Justice (r) Hamid Ali Mirza is on a visit aboard.
