The music video of “Allah Karey”, a song from Faakhir’s latest album Jee Chahey, which was released by Fire Records, showed the city of Karachi in a completely new light aesthetically comparable to any chic metropolis in the world.

Released three days ago on air, the music video was shown to the media at a press conference held in a local hotel to officially launch the new album.

When a incredulous journalist asked Faakhir, the singer, who was flanked by the COO of Fire Records, Dr Akbar Yezdani, and Shariq Mehmood, head of marketing of Megagate at the conference, where the video was shot, Faakhir smiled and said that it was shot here in Karachi. “It is just that we cleaned up site before shooting it,” he added.

Jee Chahey is fruit of Faakhir’s six years of hard work. His last album Mantra appeared in 2005.

“This is our first collaboration with Faakhir ‘album-wise’, we have previously worked at many different levels. We loved the songs. The album has the melody that Faakhir is known for and we hope that the people of Pakistan and people around the world wherever Urdu and Hindi songs are popular will love it,” said Akbar Yezdani, COO of Fire Records.

“I believe the album has something for everybody. The techniques of instrumentation in composition may have changed over the years, but two things that I treasure most, which make or break a song, are melody and words. And I think I kept these two essential elements synchronised to perfection, as far as the I am concerned and I hope my fans will like it,” said Faakhir, commenting on what to expect from his latest effort.

The album is sponsored by Megagate, a Pakistani-owned mobile-phone company. Megagate intends to plant the songs of the album for free in the latest sets of the model the company plans to launch in the future.

“Our consumers will be able to listen to the original tracks of Faakhir’s latest album in the upcoming handsets, along with many others,” said Shaker Mehmood, head of marketing, Megagate.

All the songs in the album have been composed by Faakhir, while Mitti Paao, Kho Jaaon and Atom Bomb have been composed by the singer along with Shani.
