LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa inaugurated a NADRA registration centre for women on Monday in Kotli Loharan. Federal Minister for Women Development Dr Firdaus Ashiq Awan was also present at the event.

Speaking at the occasion, Latif Khosa said that establishing NADRA registration centre for women in the distant, underdeveloped Kotli Loharan area of Sialkot was a historical achievement by the government, which will help the women from rural areas to get their computerised NIC and all identity documents from their own area, instead of Sialkot. He said that the unique step of the government holds key significance for the masses in providing them basic necessities like registration of votes, health and education. Dr Firdaus said that women were 51 percent of the total population of the country and more than 71 percent population resides in the remote underdeveloped areas.

Therefore, it is the need of the hour to establish more and more NADRA registration centres in the areas, she said. She added that now it was the duty of the rural women to get themselves registered in order to participate in the development and prosperity of the nation by having their NIC. This will help the government eliminate poverty by providing them more and more urban facilities. Later, Khosa and Dr Firdaus were shown around the NADRA centre.
