KhUJ seeks implementation of 7th Wage Board Award

PESHAWAR: Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) has condemned the non implementation of the seventh wage board award by print and electronic media organisation, here on Tuesday.

In a statement issued after general body meeting of KhUJ, the journalist body also protested the government’s apathy on the issue and demanded an end to the contract policy of employment in print and electronic media organisations. It also demanded incentives for media employees ensured under the seventh wage board award. It also demanded formulation of eight wage board award to increase the wages and other incentives of working journalists keeping in view the inflation and price hike. It also demanded special package and life insurance for the Frontier journalists who, it said, are working in warlike situation.

The body demanded that advertisements to media organisations should be linked to the implementation of the wage board award. It said that KhUJ would fully support any call of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) for rights of the media persons.
