Kidnapping of Jogi women: case registered

KHAIRPUR, Oct 13: Cases related to kidnapping of two women belonging to the Jogi community was registered with the Mirwah police late on Thursday night. Seventeen people of the Shar community have been named as accused. Complainant Liaquat Ali Jogi, husband of Alam Khatoon, lodged the FIR under section 364, 324, 120B, 7ATA, 147, 148 PPC against Ghulam Mohammad, Abdul Rasheed, Ali Hassan, Khair Mohammad, Siddiq, Mir Hassan, Mir, Ramzan, Mohammad Zaman, Allah Rakhio, Atur, Gul Mohammad and five other unidentified person.

The complainant stated in the FIR that the accused attacked his house in the Pir Kalo village and kidnapped Alam Khatoon and another woman Munawar Khatoon, and also injured Mashooq Ali Jogi, brother-in-law of the complainant. However, no arrest was made till the filing of this report. On the other hand, a complete shutter down strike was observed in Thari Mirwah to protest kidnapping of the two Jogi women on Friday. A tense situation prevailed in Thari Mirwah and Faiz Gunj talukas on the second consecutive day. Aerial firing was reported in the Jogi and Shar community areas. The girls students of both communities were not allowed to attend school by their parents in Faiz Gunj and Thari area on Friday.

Elderly people of both the communities held a meeting on Thursday night in the presence of DPO Khairpur, Javed Jiskani. Shar community demanded recovery of one Seema Shar from Nazim Jogi whereas Jogi community refused and said that Seema was not kidnapped but she left her house on her free will, while two women of their community were forcibly kidnapped. However, the meeting ended without achieving any result.
