Killing of journalist condemned

LAHORE: The Media Commission-Pakistan on Tuesday condemned the killing of Khadim Hussain Sheikh, a journalist, in Hub, Balochistan.

A press release issued by the commission, said that it was yet unclear whether Sheikh’s killing was linked to his reporting, but he was working as a stringer with Sindh TV. It said that he was killed by unidentified gunmen when he was leaving his home on a motorbike. He was also bureau chief of an Urdu daily newspaper, the release said.

Media Commission-Pakistan President IA Rehman and general secretary Wa Zuberi offered condolence to the grieved family. They also praised the government for launching a probe and also financial assistance of Sheikh’s family. “Around 40 journalists have been killed in the last five years,” they added.
