KARACHI, February 23, 2005: Korean companies were keen to invest in IT sector in Sindh, besides establishing call centers and computer card industries, which will provide about 35 thousand jobs for locals.
This was stated by a delegation of Korean IT businessmen, which called on Provincial Information Technology Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal here on Tuesday. The delegation told to the minister that renowned Korean companies were interested in setting up business in all IT sectors in Karachi and throughout the province.
They were also focusing on establishing call centers and computer card industries in Karachi. The minister welcomed the decision of Korean companies to invest in the province and assured them of full support of Sindh government.
He said that Pakistan was a peaceful region, and Sindh was a lucrative place for all bushiness sectors including Information Technology. The government has succeeded in gaining confidence of foreign and national investors, consequently investors round the world are approaching to Sindh for investing in IT and other sectors, he added.
He said that the government’s investment-friendly polices had converted Karachi into an IT hub in the world, owing to this various companies belonging to Middle East, USA, India, Singapore, Korea, China and other countries had showed their interest for investment in call centers and other IT sectors.
He said that government was looking for a suitable building having a capacity of 500 seats, to provide basic infrastructure establishing call centers.
“An Indian delegation had hinted at setting up call center in Karachi, at the Call Center Conference last month, and it will arrive on 22nd February for further discussion,” he remarked.
The visiting delegation were comprised of Managing Director Young Jo, Lee, IK Park, Investment and Global Financing Corporation Korea and chairman/CEO, IK International Co Ltd Korea.
