On August 9, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur directed relevant authorities to propose necessary amendments to the legal frameworks governing the Right to Public Services Commission and the Right to Information Commission, aiming to enhance their effectiveness and stability.
These directives were issued during two separate meetings held at the Chief Minister’s House, during which Gandapur reviewed the operations of both commissions. The meetings were attended by the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Amjad Ali Khan, Chief Commissioner RTI Farah Hamid Khan, Commissioners RTS Zakir Hussain and Muhammad Asim Imam, and other senior officials.
During the meetings, participants were briefed on the commissions’ background, mandates, and performance. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for immediate action to appoint a Chief Commissioner for the Right to Services Commission and two commissioners for the Right to Information Commission, positions that are currently vacant.
He also highlighted the importance of raising public awareness about the services provided by these commissions, directing the authorities to launch a large-scale public awareness campaign across the province.
