On December 11, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi met with the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Workers to discuss pressing challenges faced by the journalistic community. The delegation, led by PFUJ Workers President Dr. Sadia Kamal, highlighted issues including financial challenges and job insecurity.
The PFUJ workers delegation called for government intervention to protect workers’ rights and payment of salaries on time. Governor Kundi pledged the Pakistan Peoples Party’s support and “emphasized that journalism is the fourth pillar of democracy, and the welfare of journalists is a top priority for the government.”
The PFUJ Workers delegation expressed their appreciation for the governor’s commitments.
Governor Kundi also congratulated Dr. Sadia Kamal on her election as president of PFUJ Workers terming it as a historic election for Dr Kamal and the entire journalistic community. In a statement, he said it is significant for a woman to get a leadership role and accept responsibility.
“Under Dr. Sadia Kamal’s leadership, the strength and dignity of PFUJ Workers will surely increase. Her expertise, experience, and dedication to journalism will pave the way for new opportunities in the media sector,” he said.
