Lahore Residents Gain Access to Free Wi-Fi at 100 Additional Locations

Pakistan Press Foundation

The Punjab government has expanded its free Wi-Fi initiative in Lahore, adding access points at an additional 100 locations across the city. This brings the total number of free Wi-Fi hotspots to 200 in the city.

The free Wi-Fi service is specifically designed for emergency use. Police and family members can be contacted in an emergency situation through the service. The Women Safety App, Punjab Police App, and WhatsApp can all be used through the free connections. The range of every free WiFi device is up to 300 feet from the relevant point in Lahore.

While various applications can be downloaded and used for booking a taxi, the service is not meant for entertainment applications.

The expansion comes alongside an announcement from Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari, who stated that excess fares collected by transporters in the province would be refunded to passengers for the first time.
