LAHORE: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday handed out a life imprisonment sentence to Muhammad Ali for cutting off the ears and nose of a girl after she refused to marry his friend.
The ATC sentenced him to life imprisonment under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and a 10-year imprisonment under Sections 324 and 334 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Ali was also ordered to pay Rs 700,000 to the victim as compensation. Failure to pay the money would result in an additional five-year term for Ali. Raiwind City Police had earlier registered a case against Muhammad Ali, Sher Muhammad and Amanat.
The court had already convicted Sher and Amanat for the same crime. They were also awarded life imprisonments and a fine of Rs 300,000 each. According to the first information report, the convicts cut off the ears and nose of Fazeelat after her parents refused to marry their daughter with Sher Muhammad. The three abducted the victim.
