Karachi,17 April:The ongoing tussle between the lawyers and media would damage the movement for the independence of judiciary which should be resolved amicably and nobody should be allowed to create rift between them.
This was decided at a joint meeting of the mediating committee of the legal fraternity and journalists held at the Karachi Press Club on Monday under the chairmanship of the KUJ President Shamim-ur-Rahman.
The PFUJ President Mazhar Abbas, KUJ Secretary Javed Chaudhry, KPC Secretary Imtiaz Khan Faran represented the journalists community while the SCBA President Muneer A Malik and President the High Court Bar Association Abrar Hasan represented the lawyers community. The court reporters were also present on the occasion.
Muneer A Malik said that there had been close coordination between the two and certain forces were trying to sabotage the peaceful movement of the lawyersà community but nobody would be allowed to interfere into the matters.
The journalists expressed concerns over the absence of the lawyers of the KBA and said that certain forces wanted to disturb the relations between the two for their own vested interests. Muneer Malik assured that he would talk to the lawyers of KBA to resolve the issue amicably.
