The Balochistan government has suspended mobile internet data services across Quetta district for 24 hours starting from midnight October 30, citing heightened security concerns. The suspension, affecting all mobile network operators in the region, was confirmed through an official notification issued late Thursday night.
The decision was recommended by the Balochistan Home Department and is aimed at maintaining law and order within the provincial capital. The government’s letter to the Ministry of Interior, dated October 30, outlined the necessity of the action due to “the peculiar law and order situation and threat perceptions” in the area.
This measure follows a similar suspension that occurred in August when mobile data services were halted for security reasons. However, on August 21, the Balochistan High Court ordered the resumption of these services after 16 days of disruption.
Officials emphasized that such suspensions are temporary and are solely intended to ensure public safety amid ongoing security threats.
