On January 21, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in collaboration with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) blocked over 100 fake and phishing websites. These illicit websites were reportedly exploiting the PSCA’s name and logo to deceitfully collect online payments from the public.
According to spokesperson, these fraudulent domains were impersonating the PSCA’s e-challan system, tricking unsuspecting individuals into paying non-existent traffic fines. Several notable fake URLs — including echallan-psca.top, pscae-challan.com, echallanpunjab.com, and pscae-challan.vip — were among those blocked following a detailed investigation by the PSCA.
A PSCA spokesperson warned that the operators behind these websites were exploiting the public’s trust by offering payment services that had no link to the official e-challan system. Citizens are strongly advised to avoid making payments through unverified links and to always confirm the authenticity of online platforms handling financial transactions.
The PSCA reiterated that the only legitimate platforms for paying e-challans are the official website echallan.psca.gop.pk and the Public Safety App. These channels ensure safe and secure processing of citizens’ payments.
Authorities have also intensified legal action against the creators and administrators of the fake websites and reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy toward cyber fraud. The crackdown aims to protect citizens from financial scams and preserve the integrity of the e-challan mechanism.
The PSCA continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious sites or online activities that appear misleading or fraudulent.
