MULTAN: Federal Minister for Human Rights Ansar Burney here on Tuesday said the government was seriously considering a national human rights commission to safeguard human rights of the citizens. Talking to journalists, he said neutral persons from all the four provinces would be taken in the proposed commission.

Burney said that he was undertaking a countrywide tour of jails so that innocent people could be released and grievances of prisoners, if any, could be removed. He said he would request the chief justices of the Supreme Court and the high courts to hear the pending cases of prisoners on a priority basis.
