ISLAMABAD: The State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan and NADRA in a joint move are likely to bring every citizen under insurance net through nominal charges by issuing computerised national identity cards.
Under the proposed scheme, every individual would have to pay Rs 5 or Rs 6 extra from NADRA fee for the issuance of new computerised national identity cards. Such initiatives are likely to be finalised soon, said Chairman State Life Corporation Shahid Aziz Siddiqui.
The State Life has successfully secured Rs 1.68 billion as first year premium (new business) during the first quarter of 2010, showing an increase of 35.32 percent, while in the year 2009, the corporation secured first year premium of Rs 6.96 billion, showing an unprecedented increase of 40 percent.
In 2009, the State Life also paid Rs 6.92 billion on account of claims thus providing financial protection and savings to thousands of valued policyholders and their families nationwide. He claimed State Life is one of those public sector organisations, which are not a burden on the national exchequer.
