On March 4, in a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath to Naveed Kamran Baloch, as Pakistan’s 9th Federal Ombudsman (Wafaqi Mohtasib). Baloch, set to serve a four-year term, brings a wealth of experience from various high-level administrative roles, including his tenure as chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, federal secretary, and principal secretary to the chief minister of Sindh.

The ceremony marked a significant appointment in Pakistan’s administrative landscape. Following the oath-taking, the new Ombudsman met with President Zardari.

President Zardari’s directives to the newly sworn-in Ombudsman were clear. He emphasized the need for Baloch to focus on enhancing citizens’ access to justice, increasing case disposal efficiency, and strengthening mechanisms for timely grievance redressal across federal institutions.
