KARACHI – City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed the official concerned that a booklet containing digital map of all the city’s under-construction roads and all utility services be compiled while a library of these books be set up in the Works and Services department to make details of utilities under-ground or along the roads available.

He said such books should also be provided to other utility service organizations to help them in carrying out their works with the help of maps provided.
He directed the officials concerned that work on road-9000 North Karachi be started within 24 hours and construction work at Sohrab Goth flyover be speeded up. Kamal issued the directives during a 5-hour visit to the city from 11 PM to 4 AM on Tuesday/Wednesday night to inspect the works carried out during night hours.
He pointed out that in the past, after construction of a road, it used to be cut by other organization to lay their service lines, but now this will not happen.
He explained that below all the under-construction roads, ducts are being constructed at smaller paces from each other and in future all utility service organizations will use these ducts whereafter the new roads will be serviceable for 30-40 years.
During visit to Sohrab Goth flyover, he was informed that its second phase will be completed in two months while under-pass too will soon be opened.
He said that Sohrab goth flyover is an important bridge and work on it should not stop even for a minute. It was informed that special arrangements are being made for drainage of rain water.
During inspection of under-construction North Karachi roads, the Nnazim directed that construction of roads, from where encroachments have been removed, should be started immediately.
He showed displeasure over non-start of work on road-9000 and said that work must start within a week after handing over work order to contractor.
While visiting Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Mustafa Kamal directed that other track should not be dug without completing the service road from Karimabad to Sohrab Goth.
He said after construction of service road, it should be used for traffic passage which would facilitate the construction of second track easily.
In a briefing on the occasion, it was informed that service road from Aisha Manzil to Gharibabad has completed while work on road from Water Pump to Sohrab Goth is going on day and night and will be completed soon.
At 3 a.m. the Nazim inspected the I.I. Chundrigar Road and reviewed the ongoing construction work.
He directed the concerned official that since it would be Pakistan’s most beautiful road, its lights should be beautifully designed. He said that such arrangements should be made that after its construction, no need is felt to cut it for the next 30 to 40 years.
