TANDO MOHAMMAD KHAN, June 19 2006: The Union of Journalist and Political leaders of Tando Mohammad Khan have condemned the murder of senior correspondent of Daily the Nation, Hayatullah Khan and demanded of a methodical probe into the matter and arrest of the culprits. In a statement issued by Taluka Nazim Tando Mohammad Khan, Mir Ghulam Ullah Talpur said that he was shocked to learn about the murder of a young and promising journalist by the unknown assailants.
He said the killing of the journalist and its perpetrators deserved condemnation from the entire civilized world. He demanded the president of Pakistan to arrest the killers immediately. He also condoled with the bereaved family members. He prayed to God to rest the soul of Hayatullah in peace. The Zila Naib Nazim Pir Ashfaque Ahmad Jan Sirhandi, PML-N leader Pir Sajjad Saeed Jan Sarhindi, Pir Kaleem Ullah Jan Sarhindi described Hayatullah slaying as “a very tragic and brutal act, which every Pakistani must condemn.” Meanwhile, Taluka Nazim Bulri Shah Karim, Syed Zulfiqar, Ali Shah, has also expressed his concern over the death senior journalist.
In a condolence message, the Taluka nazim sympathized with the members of the bereaved family. He said that it was a great tragedy, which deserved to be condemned in the strongest possible words.
While, The People’s Party Parliamentarians District Vice-President Mohammad Ali Qureshi, MPA Abdul Qadir Soomro, District Bar Association President. Advocate Abdul Hakeem Memon also condemned the murder of journalist. Moreover, journalists held a meeting at Tando Mohammed Khan and condemned the killing of Hayatullah Khan. The meeting, presided over by senior journalist M Usman Khatri, appealed to President General Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to arrest the killer. The meeting warned of launching a campaign if action was not taken in this regard.
