Lahore’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Additional Director Sarfraz Chaudhry has been transferred to the agency’s headquarters in Islamabad following several recent controversies.  Chaudhry has reportedly requested a six-month leave.

The transfer comes after a series of incidents involving Chaudhry.  He recently oversaw the questioning of several YouTubers and social media influencers, including Saadur Rehman (Ducky Bhai) and Rajab Butt, regarding their alleged connection to unregulated online trading and gambling applications.  Additionally, Chaudhry was involved in the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against lawyers who reportedly attempted to secure the release of a suspect from NCCIA custody.

“The task I had taken up will be met by my successor. However, to those involved in trolling me on social media, I will respond at an appropriate time,” Chaudhry stated.  An official source indicated that the transfer was a result of various complaints lodged against Chaudhry.
