SUKKUR, June 19: Qalander Bux Sohrani, a journalist of Kandhkot, was shot dead allegedly, by two policemen on Saturday.
The victim and one of his friends were travelling in a double-cabin jeep to a village in Jacobabad district when the policemen, ASI Shabbir Ahmed Jakhrani and constable Nazeer Ahmed, both in plain clothes, chased and tried to intercept the vehicle.
The DC of Jacobabad told Dawn that the occupants of the jeep sensing danger, tried to escape on which one of the policemen opened fire.
Mr. Sohrani died on the spot while his friend, whose name could not be ascertained immediately, narrowly escaped death in the shooting.
The SP of Jacobabad, Najaf Mirza, rushed to Kandhkot and ordered registration of an FIR against the two policemen.
However, no arrests were reported till the filing of this report.
