HYDERABAD, July 24: A group of journalists from Dokri on Tuesday accused a Sindh minister of intimidation and said that as ‘our lives are in danger, we have left our town and sought shelter in Hyderabad’.
The journalists alleged that the minister had sent some armed men to the Dokri press club a few days ago to kidnap its president, Ramzan Junejo. Mr Junejo was tortured in captivity, they added.
Speaking at a press conference at the Hyderabad press club, the four journalists – Monus Bukhari, Zarar Mangi, Nadeem Junejo and Ramzan Junejo himself – said the minister took the step after the publication of a news item which showed a certain nazim in a bad light.
Saying that their families had been threatened with ‘dire consequences’, the journalists sought help from the Sindh government.
