GUJRANWALA, January 27 2006: Newsmen have lodged a strong protest over undue check on freedom of press and demanded DPO to take action against SHO of the Kotwali police station who misbehaved with them on Thursday January 26.

The newsmen were covering a rally staged by Jamiat-e-Tulba Arabia here near old railway station against the US attack in Bajaur Agency that claimed 18 lives. The police baton charged the peaceful rally and the SHO Yousaf Maan admonished and threatened a press photographer, Khurram Shahzad when he attempted to take photographs of the situation. The SJO also allegedly told the newsmen not to file a story in this regard or he would be put behind the bars.
