HYDERABAD- Hearing in the Daniel Pearl kidnapping and murder case could not take place in Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Hyderabad on Saturday as Judge Syed Ali Ashraf Shah took leave due to the demise of one of his relative.
The jail superintendent said that there was no hearing due to the absence of the judge and the hearing was put off till Monday. He said that Advocate General Sindh Raja Qureshi and defence lawyers Abdul Waheed Katpar, Rai Bashir Ahmed, Mohsin Imam and Mehar Waris Bharwana had also arrived at the jail; but when they were informed about the demise of a judge’s relatives, they returned.
Abdul Waheed Katpar, the counsel for prime suspect Sheikh Omar, had completed his arguments on Friday. Now Rai Bashir Ahmed, the counsel for three accused Sheikh Adil, Fahad Naseem and Salman Saqib, had to start final arguments in the case. The trial is now in its 11th week.
