KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has signed a summary through which contract employees of the education department would be given permanent employment after a due process, said Education Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq on Saturday.
He urged the protesting contract employees of the education department to go back home now as the decision to provide them permanent employment had been taken.
The minister told that he had moved a summary through the chief secretary who after a due process sent it to the chief minister.
The CM signed the summary on Saturday and sent it to the education secretary, he said, adding that work on the recruitment process would begin in a day or two with the publication of advertisements in the newspapers.
He said that over 7,000 non-teaching grade 1 to 4 employees had been employed by district governments on a three-year contract which had expired around six months back, but the government had extended their contract by six more months.
He said that these contract employees would be selected after a due process. He said that they could not be appointed directly, as according to a Supreme Court order all the government jobs must be advertised in the newspapers.
He said that after interviews these employees would be selected and given permanent government jobs.
He urged the protesting employees to end their protest, return home and not be misled by some politicians, who he said were exploiting the situation.
He assured them that they should apply for these posts and all of them would be given permanent employment.
