Under the leadership of Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, the government is intensifying efforts to fast-track the development of Islamabad’s Information Technology Park.
During a progress meeting with Ambassador Park Kijun of the Republic of Korea on November 6, Minister Iqbal highlighted the importance of aligning the IT Park’s development with the broader vision outlined by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The proposed IT Park, which will cover an area of 66,893 square meters, will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, including two basements, a ground floor, and nine additional floors. The facility will house 120 offices dedicated to IT and IT-enabled service companies. It will also include a startup incubation center and a business support center.
The $88 million initiative is a joint effort between Pakistan’s Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and a $76 million loan from the Korean EXIM Bank. This collaboration underscores the growing partnership between Pakistan and South Korea in the field of technology and infrastructure development.
The IT Park will also feature a range of additional facilities including a Tier III data center, research and development laboratories, an industry-academia linkage center, and virtual classrooms.
