Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) invites applications for the Media Safety Reporting Fellowship, a program designed to enhance the capacity and resilience of journalists to carry out impactful investigative reporting on journalist safety issues in Pakistan.
This fellowship seeks to promote investigative journalism practices, contribute to informed public discourse on media safety, and support policy and advocacy efforts aimed at improving protections for journalists. Fellows will receive training and mentorship to develop in-depth stories focused on media safety, threats to freedom of expression, and impunity for crimes against journalists.
What the Fellowship Offers:
- Fellows will receive an honorarium of up to PKR 60,000 to support their content production.
- Participate in two capacity-building workshops designed to sharpen your investigative journalism skills and deepen your understanding of media safety issues.
- Engage in personalized online mentoring sessions with seasoned journalists and subject-matter experts who will provide story-specific editorial guidance throughout the fellowship.
- Receive hands-on support to develop, refine, and publish six impactful investigative stories—each focused on a key aspect of media safety and freedom of expression.
Preference will be given to fellows who will commit to investigating impunity for specific cases of journalists killed or injured.
Eligibility:
- Three to five years of journalism experience
- Women journalists, members of vulnerable communities, and journalists from underserved regions—including Balochistan, Newly Merged Tribal Districts, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir—are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Journalists with experience in video production and multimedia storytelling are also encouraged to apply.
