LAHORE: The Lahore High Court sought a reply from the federal government on a petition challenging the appointment of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s Chairman Farooq Awan.

A local lawyer had filed the petition blaming the government for not following the correct procedure to appoint the chairman. He said the vacant post was never advertised in the media nor was any other member interviewed for the post.

He pleaded the court to declare the appointment null and void and order the government to make a fresh appointment.
