On September 14, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Hafizur Rehman said internet service quality across Pakistan is expected to improve by October, amid concerns over poor connectivity and frequent disruptions.

Speaking at a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications, chaired by Senator Palwasha Khan, Khan said parts of Lahore experienced uncertain internet signals, partly due to recent power outages.

Senator Kamran Murtaza questioned whether the ongoing merger of Ufone and Telenor Pakistan was contributing to service problems. Rehman said the merger was progressing and that the rollout of 5G technology was also underway.
