Pemra seizes illegal Radio Station

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Tuesday seized an illegal FM Radio Station from the city of Bhai Pheru in district Kasur.

According to a Press release issued by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, an information was received that an illegal FM Radio Station in the name of Mast FM 96 using the frequency 96.4 MHz was working in District Kasur covering Bhai Pheru city.

Accordingly a Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority enforcement team was constituted to seize the illegal radio station.

In this regard assistance was also sought from District Kasur police since there was chance of resistance as the radio station had been set up inside a house.

The team raided the premises and seized the equipment. Owners of illegal radio station,
two brothers Ayaz Khan and Ijaz Khan were arrested while their third partner and brother Sarkar Khan was not available at the time of seizure.

An FIR has been registered against the culprits under the Pakistan Electronic Media
Regulatory Authority Ordinance 2002 at the Bhai Pheru Police Station and further investigation is in progress.
