PFUJ condemns journalist’s murder

KARACHI, June 20 2006: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned the brutal murder of tribal journalist Hayatullah Khan and demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the killing. President PFUJ Haji Nawaz Raza and Secretary General Sajid Aziz have appealed the CJ to take suo moto action on Hayatullah Khan’s brutal killing. They said that Hayatullah was picked up by some government agency while performing his professional duties in Waziristan six months earlier, and was in its custody ever since. They said that the agency murdered him and abandoned the body in village Mirali in Waziristan.

The PFUJ office-bearers said that the journalists’ fraternity across the country had been shocked over the cold-blooded murder of the journalist and would hold countrywide protest over the incident. The PFUJ also appealed the world bodies of journalists to condemn and lodge protests against the heinous crime of the agencies.
