Photojournalists role lauded

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam here on Thursday lauded the role of photojournalists for highlighting the Islamabad police activities through snaps.

He expressed these views at the concluding ceremony of photo exhibition arranged by Islamabad police in collaboration with Rawalpindi Islamabad Photojournalists Association (RIPJA).

President ICCI Zahid Maqbbol, SSP Traffic Dr Moeen Masood, RIPJA President Sajjad Hyder, senior police officials and photojournalists of twin cities were present on the occasion.

Photographers working in various media organizations displayed a total of 91 photographs in this exhibition.

The photographs regarding the police activities were displayed in exhibition whether it was positive or negative aiming to guide police.

The IGP said the aim of this photo exhibition was to highlight the performance and Short comings of Islamabad police with a view to improve the output in future re informed that Islamabad Police was the pioneer force in the country which had arranged such type of photo exhibition to know about its Own performance through media, especially through pictorial displays.

He said that independent media and judiciary were playing very positive role for improvement of Pakistani society. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Traffic said that IGP has directed him to publish all of these photographs in form of a pictorial book and to keep it in educational institutions and libraries for better understanding of Islamabad police.

President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICC!) also appreciated this exercise of Islamabad police through which it has presented itself before media for account ability and wished that such exercise should also be emulated by the police department of the provinces.

He said that ICCI would also arrange such an exhibition at the building of ICCI to appreciate the hard work of photojournalists.
