Police officials involved in looting journalist identified

QUETTA: The Police constables involved in looting and manhandling the Quetta bureau chief of the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) have been identified, bureau officials said on Thursday.

Bureau sources said that Superintendent of the Quetta Police Tariq called the constables who were on patrol duty on the night of December 31 to his office for an identity parade.

During the identity parade, two constables of PS Civil Lines were identified as the ones who had manhandled APP Quetta Bureau Chief Shah Muhammad. The two constables admitted that they were responsible for the incident and aplogised. Their duties were changed following departmental action against them. The two constables intercepted APP Quetta Bureau Chief Shah Muhammad on Jinnah Road in Quetta on the night of December 31 as he was on his way home. They deprived the APP official of cash and his service card at gunpoint before fleeing the scene.
