KASUR: Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa said on Sunday since he received the summary regarding the ouster of PPP ministers from the provincial cabinet after some delay, he could not study it.

He said he would take a decision on the summary sent to him by the provincial government in accordance with the law and the Constitution after studying it.

He was addressing a public meeting at Khudian Khas town on Deepalpur road after inaugurating Sui gas supply to the town, some 30 kilometres from here.

He was accompanied by federal education minister Sardar Aseff Ahmed Ali, Pakistan People`s Party Central Executive Committee member Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) chairman Misbahur Rehman and local parliamentarians.

The governor said the ministries never mattered for the PPP, nor it had lust for power, rather it believed in the service of people who were the actual source of power.

He said Sardar Aseff Ahmed Ali was eligible for the office of the foreign minister.

Mr Khosa said all the democratic parties should discourage `Lotacracy` (a coinage for horse-trading) and should strive for strengthening democracy and give relief to the public. He added there could be no progress or rule of law if there was no check on horse-trading.

Relating services of the PPP for democracy, he said President Asif Ali Zardari served the democracy by reinstating 1973 Constitution and preferred to give power to the people rather than strengthening his own position. He said the PPP founder ZulifKar Ali Bhutto preferred to die at the hands of a dictator rather than to die in history, adding ZAB was a beacon of light for every party worker.

He said late Benazir Bhutto had strengthened democracy by signing the Charter of Democracy (CoD) and proved the PPP believed in the politics of reconciliation.

He said efforts were under way to overcome the energy crisis the country was faced with.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Aseff said because of the PPP workers` sacrifices the courts and the media were enjoying complete freedom in the country.

He said in London before signing the CoD Nawaz Sharif proposed to the late Benazir Bhutto that there should be no place for turncoats in a democratic setup but now the PML-N chief was himself violating the charter by embracing such elements in the form of `Unification Group`.

He said the PPP did not want the `politics of Changa Manga` nor it wanted the country to become an arena of `political warfare`.

He said the PPP was striving for promotion of agricultural sector for the prosperity of farmers while the PML-N was promoting sugar mills owners and forcing the cane growers to sell their produce at a throwaway price with delayed payments.

He alleged the PML-N got released the terrorists who had killed army men and police officials just to win by-polls in some parts of the country.
