ISLAMABAD: In a rare show of solidarity between media and democratic forces of the country, National Press Club Islamabad has organised a reception in the honour of the 26-member Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms to recognise its achievement of reaching a consensus on 18th Amendment.

The reception will be held on the club’s premises at 11am on Monday.

Those who have confirmed their participation include chairman of the PCCR and the 9-member Parliamentary Implementation Commission (PIC), Mian Raza Rabbani, Leader of Opposition in Senate Wasim Sajjad, PML-N’s parliamentary leader in Senate Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, federal ministers Syed Naveed Qamar and Babar Awan, PPP (S) president Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, ANP’s parliamentary leader Sen Haji Mohammad Adeel, PML-Q’s Senator S.M. Zafar, JUI (F) Rehmatullah Kakar, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party parliamentary leader Abdur Rahim Mandokhel, Fata MNA Munir Orakzai and Mir Hasil Bizenjo.

Senior journalists Nasir Zaidi and Iqbal Jafferi known for waging struggle for media freedom will also attend the reception.

Club president Afzal Butt will present shields to the members of the PCCR on the occasion.
