SUKKUR, June 22 2006: Some 400 persons, including journalists and activists of different political and social parties, observed a sit-in at Rehbar Chowk, Thull on June 21, following the attempt over the life of local journalist. The enraged protestors were chanting slogans against the police, who according to them have failed to provide protection to the lives and properties of the people. The leaders said, earlier the influential persons issued threats to the local journalist Mubarak Bhatti, while Tuesday night some unknown armed persons made attempt over his life.

They demanded of the high ups of the police to provide protection to the journalists. On Mubarak’s complaint Thull police has registered FIR against eight unknown persons, but no arrest was reported till filing this report.
