The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issued an advisory calling on all mobile users to verify that their SIM cards are registered in their own names. The authority cautioned that unauthorized individuals may exploit stolen identity information to obtain SIM cards illegally, which could then be misused for fraud, cybercrimes, or terrorism-related activities.
To check the number of SIMs registered under their CNIC, users have been advised to visit https://cnic.sims.pk or send their CNIC number (without dashes) via SMS to 668. PTA has strongly advised users to immediately block any SIM card found registered in their name that is not in use.
The advisory is issued under the framework of the Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System (DIRBS), which mandates the registration of all mobile devices and SIMs in Pakistan in accordance with national security protocols.
