ISLAMABAD – A private media group of the country wants to destroy national institution PTV and is hatching conspiracies against thousands of workers of the organisation.

This was stated by President PTV Central Employees Union (CEU) Jhangir Khan and Secretary General Malik Shabir while addressing the PTV employees’ rally on Thursday.

The union leaders condemned the private media group, saying that it wanted to economically destroy the PTV by misleading the people regarding the rights of telecasting Cricket World Cup. The CBA office-bearers urged the media and advertising agencies to join hands with them against the dictatorial attitude of this specific media group, said a press release issued by PTV. The Secretary General CBA said that PTV had faced severe losses in Champions Trophy2006 and Cricket World Cup 2007 due to monopoly of the said media group.

He further said that the group had been spreading disinformation through its advertisements and publications.

On the occasion, the demonstrators demanded of the government and the Chief Justice of Pakistan to order special audit of assets of the media group and took severe action against the conspiracies of said group.
