ISLAMABAD- Managing Director, Pakistan Television, Yusuf Beig Mirza on Friday announced that the state-run network would allow all the political parties including the opposition to run electioneering from first week of December.
The MD was addressing a press conference here, announcing the details of the 43rd anniversary of the first electronic channel of Pakistan.
Responding to a question, Mr Mirza said PTV has chalked out a comprehensive programme for the coverage of the forthcoming general elections.
He said all the political parities would be allowed to advertise on the network while the state-owned channels would present special reports about all those constituencies where tough contests were expected.
He added the Chaghi Auditorium of PTV headquarter would be converted into Election City.
Giving the details of the 43rd anniversary of PTV, to be celebrated on 26 November, the MD said the administration has decided to award the pioneers, artists and the legends with three categories of awards aimed to commemorate their services and relationship with the network.
The awards include PTV Life time Achievement Award, PTV Pioneers Award, to be given to the pioneers in various fields and PTV Memoriam Award for the deceased artists.
The state-run network would also run a special telethon for three consecutive days (24-26) in which the memories of the past would be revived. A grand mega show, “ Safar Mohabbaton Ka would be staged in the Jinnah Convention Center. Moreover, two special programmes Nelaam Ghar and Fifty-Fifty would also be played at the occasion.
The MD said PTV network was also launching a Sports Channel after getting nod of the Planning Commission. He said the network could not telecast 20-20 World Cup to avoid the financial losses.
