On August 26th, Mobile phone services will be suspended in many districts of Punjab. The Punjab government has announced the partial suspension from 5 AM to 11 PM  to maintain law and order during the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA), a day of significant religious observance.

The districts affected by this measure are Rawalpindi, Jhang, Layyah, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Chakwal, and Toba Tek Singh. The Punjab Home Department has made this decision in response to a request from the police, aiming to ensure public safety. This significant religious event, marked by processions and gatherings, necessitates enhanced security measures.

While mobile services will be interrupted in the specified districts, they will remain operational in other areas of Punjab, including the provincial capital Lahore.
