On June 1, Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Khawaja Imran Nazir and Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Khawaja Salman Rafique met with a delegation of journalists from the National Press Club and discussed the media’s role in disseminating the government’s policies and improvements in the health system.

The ministers emphasized the importance of collective efforts in improving the healthcare system. “We all have to play a role in improving the health system,” said Nazir. He welcomed the journalists to the Health Department and recognized their role as a bridge between the government and the people.

The delegation, led by Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) President Afzal Butt and including National Press Club Secretary Nayar Ali, Secretary Finance Waqar Abbasi, and Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, raised concerns about healthcare access and treatment facilities for journalists in Punjab hospitals.

Health Minister Rafique assured the delegation of prompt action to address their concerns. “Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, significant efforts are being made to improve patient care,” he said. He also accepted an invitation to visit the National Press Club in Islamabad and its camp office in Rawalpindi.
