LAHORE- Punjab Union of Journalist (PUJ) has announced to hold a protest rally against the high-handedness of government officials who have tortured an on-duty photographer of Daily Pakistan and other member of national press.
PUJ Secretary General, Jalil Hasan Akhter in a handout issued here on January 19, 2003 said the rally would start from Lahore Press Club and would go to Governor House where he would be apprised of the situation.
Akhter asked President Musharraf and Prime Minister Jamali to intervene in the matter and hold an inquiry into the incident.
He warned that if action was not taken against the responsible officials, PUJ with the collaboration of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) would hold countrywide protest movement.
He said, a meeting of PUJ has also decided to hold separate meetings with the Governor Punjab Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) and Chief Minister Pervez Elahi on this issue.
