The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) officially welcomed the appointment of Raisa Adil as the new Principal Information Officer (PIO) of the Press Information Department (PID). In a statement released, APNS leaders expressed confidence that Adil’s tenure would contribute positively to the relationship between the print media and the government.
Senator Sarmad Ali, President of APNS, along with Muhammad Athar Kazi, the Secretary General, conveyed hopes that Adil would champion press freedom and effectively address prevailing challenges within the print media sector. They emphasised the importance of maintaining the existing cordial relations between the PID and the print media, which they believe will continue to prosper under Adil’s leadership.
The APNS officials also took the opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of the outgoing PIO, Mubashir Hassan, appreciating his cooperation and support toward the newspaper industry during his tenure.
Expressing hopes that pending issues of the print media would be resolved on a priority basis, the APNS highlighted the need for the implementation of previously approved increases in government advertising rates, a rise in the volume of government advertisements, and the settlement of longstanding dues.
