KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday ordered the shifting of record and proceedings of a case pertaining to the murder of a journalist to Kashmore-Kandhkot after high court ordered transfer of the case.
Faisal Mahmood alias Nafsiati, Syed Mohammad Ali Rizvi, Shahrukh alias Mani, Naveed alias Polka and Shakil alias Malik along with their absconding accomplices have been charged with allegedly killing Wali Khan Babar, a reporter of a private TV channel, on Jan 13, 2011 in Liaquatabad.
The Sindh High Court had ordered the transfer of the case to Kashmore-Kandhkot anti-terrorism court on Nov 8 on a request of the government.
The case was fixed before the ATC-III on Tuesday but no proceedings were held as the court had already been intimated about the transfer order of the case.
Meanwhile, public prosecutor Abdul Maroof moved an application that the record and proceedings of the case be sent to the relevant court through a member of court staff along with the investigating officer of the case and asked the court to direct the SSP (security) to provide them proper security. The court allowed the plea and issued a directive to provide security to them. The case would be taken up for final arguments before the ATC Kashmore-Kandhkot on Nov 19.
