KARACHI: Pop singer Saleem Javed’s son Muhammad Shezan Saleem, commonly known as JO-G, unveiled his latest single “That’s my mama” from his upcoming debut album “Naseeb” at the Karachi Press Club on Thursday.
JO-G said the song, originally sung in Urdu and later translated into English to target the international market, was a tribute to all mothers in the world.
Supported by his doting father, JO-G travelled to the freezing city of Toronto, Canada to study audio engineering and music production from the Recording Arts Canada.
Many of JO-G’s fans claimed that he was probably Pakistan’s first and youngest audio engineer to have completed his graduation from such a prestigious institution.
JO-G had previously used his rap skills on his father’s 2007 album “Dosti” and he has finally broken into the Pakistani music scene.
JO-G claimed that unlike popular belief, his future of leading a musical revolution in Pakistan was not prophesised at his birth, but he had dreamed to be a software engineer until his Intermediate.
JO-G’s father said while other children played with toys, little JO-G would play with daddy’s musical instruments.
The upcoming album features a plethora of genres including hip-hop; bhangra; Urdu and English rap; rock ballads and love songs, proving the age-old saying “jack of all trades, master of none.” The album would be released by June, while the music video of “That’s my mama” is currently featuring on all major music channels, charming mothers internationally.
