Samaa TV is facing a significant financial crisis that has reportedly led to major salary reductions, staff departures, and increased uncertainty within the organization. Employees say the channel has reduced salaries between 30 and 35 percent without prior notice, affecting anchors, producers, technical personnel, and other staff members. Salary payments have also reportedly been delayed in recent months.

The financial difficulties have been accompanied by several reported resignations. Members of the management team have stepped down, and multiple journalists are reportedly exploring opportunities at other networks. Anchor Talat Hussain is reportedly considering leaving the channel. Najam Sethi has confirmed his resignation and announced his move to Dunya TV, acknowledging the support of Abdul Aleem Khan and Nadeem Malik during his program “Sethi Se Sawal.” Veteran journalist Iftikhar Ahmad has also resigned, thanking the management and colleagues for their cooperation during his tenure.

Other actions within Pakistan’s media sector highlight similar financial pressures. Recently, the Dawn Media Group has decided to shut down its Dawn News Urdu website due to financial constraints and structural adjustments.

Workforce reductions have also occurred at other outlets. Thirty-seven employees were laid off from the digital platform Nukta Pakistan, followed by 50 from GTV. After the layoffs at Nukta, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced that all 37 affected employees would be offered government jobs.
