ISLAMABAD: Two executive members of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) disowned a press statement issued in their names condemning SCBA president Asma Jahangir’s views over a verdict of Supreme Court on fate of dysfunctional judges of superior judiciary.
Taj Mohammad Mengal expressing his complete ignorance over the press statement told APP that he had been in Quetta recently and was neither consulted nor approached over the issue. He said: “So far as the statement regarding apex Court’s measures on corruption are concerned, I also laud it, but I disown the statement about Asma Jahangir.” Akhtar Shah, another executive member from Quetta, shared the views of Mengal, saying that he would take up the issue in the upcoming meeting of SCBA. He said this fake practice of issuance of press statement must stop. He also disowned the statement regarding Asma Jahangir. It may be recalled here that a press statement was distributed on Thursday among mediamen in the Supreme Court bearing signatures of a number of SCBA office bearers and demanding of its president to stop issuing statement against judiciary.
