Mohammad Arifullah Sarhadi, a veteran journalist and founder of the local newspaper Daily Islah, passed away on December 2 after a prolonged illness. He was 80 years old.

Arifullah’s funeral prayers were held on December 3 in Gul Dher, Tordher, and he was later laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard.

Speaking about his father, Gul Bacha, one of his sons, said that Arifullah had been bedridden for the past few months, with his condition deteriorating in the days leading up to his death. He breathed his last at home.

Born in 1944, Arifullah was amongst the founders of the labour union in Karachi. Arifullah is survived by his widow, five sons — Gul Bacha, Mehmood Jan, Faiq Khan, Qari Idrees, and Abid Khan — and four daughters.

In a condolence meeting, members of the Swabi Press Club paid tribute to the late journalist.
