On January 20, Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon administered the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected officials of the Hyderabad Union of Journalists (HUJ) at the Hyderabad Press Club. The ceremony marked the commencement of new leadership, including President Hamid Sheikh, General Secretary Ali Hamza Zaidi, and other key office bearers.

During the ceremony, Minister Memon congratulated the new office bearers and expressed his affinity with the journalists of Hyderabad, acknowledging their perception of him as a “close associate” rather than a minister.

The minister also lauded the role of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in championing independent journalism and press freedom.

Further addressing the needs of journalists, Memon committed to getting a health insurance scheme for journalists approved by the provincial chief minister through an endowment fund for press clubs.
