On February 10, the Sindh Information Department convened a meeting chaired by Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon to review initiatives concerning journalists and media organisations, assess departmental projects and discuss the promotion of digital media and transparent information sharing.

The session was attended by Secretary Information Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon, Director General Information Moez Pirzada, Director Films Hizbullah Memon, Deputy Director Information Sarang Latif Chandio and other senior officials.

During the meeting, participants examined in detail the measures taken by the department to facilitate journalists and media houses. Discussions focused on improving facilities available to media professionals, ensuring the timely provision of official information and enhancing institutional coordination.

Officials also reviewed ongoing and proposed projects of the department. These included efforts to promote digital media, expand the dissemination of government information through modern communication channels, extend patronage to film and documentary initiatives and implement measures aimed at providing the public with transparent access to government policies.

Addressing the meeting, Sharjeel Inam Memon said the provincial government recognises the challenges faced by journalists and media organisations and is taking practical steps to address them. He stated that a free and responsible media forms the foundation of democracy.

He further said that the Sindh government intends to strengthen relations with the media based on mutual trust. The welfare of journalists, he noted, remains among the government’s priorities, and steps are being taken to resolve issues confronting media institutions.

The Senior Minister also directed the department to align its operations with contemporary requirements and instructed officials to expedite work related to digital media development and media-focused projects.
